A Harvest of Opportunity: Beneficiaries Reap the Rewards of Lima Bila Kumiliki Shamba

At Willis Avocado Farms, we believe that agricultural land can create opportunities beyond a single crop. Through our “Lima Bila Kumiliki Shamba” initiative, selected youth and women are given access to farmland within our avocado-growing areas to cultivate short-term crops while contributing to food security and household livelihoods.
From Land Access to a Successful Harvest
The latest harvest is a practical demonstration of what can happen when communities are given an opportunity to access productive agricultural land.
Beneficiaries of the Lima Bila Kumiliki Shamba initiative have been harvesting maize grown on land made available to them as part of Willis Avocado Farms’ commitment to creating inclusive agricultural opportunities.
The initiative provides access to land for short-term crop production, particularly for youth and women, allowing them to grow food, generate income and gain practical experience in agriculture.

More Than Avocado Farming
As Willis Avocado Farms continues to develop its avocado production, we recognize that the land can also support other agricultural activities that benefit surrounding communities.
Through Lima Bila Kumiliki Shamba, beneficiaries can utilize available spaces for short-season crops such as maize, helping to promote food production, income generation and productive use of agricultural land.
The maize harvest pictured here represents more than a crop. It represents an opportunity made possible through access to land, hard work and community participation.
“We believe agricultural development should create opportunities not only through what we grow, but also through the people and communities who participate in it.”— Willis Avocado Farms
Creating Opportunities Through Agriculture
At Willis Avocado Farms, our vision extends beyond producing high-quality Hass avocados. We are working to develop a sustainable agricultural enterprise that creates economic opportunities for farmers, youth, women and surrounding communities.
Lima Bila Kumiliki Shamba is one of the ways we are putting this commitment into practice—turning access to land into opportunities for people to grow, learn and benefit from agriculture.
The harvest is a reminder that when people are given an opportunity, they can turn it into something productive.
